Donation 106 was made in Liechtenstein to the charity Heilpadagogisches Zentrum des Furstentums Liechtenstein (HPZ).
HPZ Startseite’s origins date back to 1967, when under the association’s presidency, Princess Gina of Liechtenstein, a special school, a special kindergarten, a special education day care centre, and a school psychological counselling centre were opened.
For over 40 years, the registered association was the sponsoring organization of the HPZ. In 2012, the general meeting approved the establishment of a foundation. Today, the HPZ is managed by the Foundation for Special Education in Liechtenstein and is a recognized and valued institution in Liechtenstein and the region.
They support and care for people with mild to severe cognitive, mental, and multiple disabilities at all stages of life including special education school with elementary, middle, and upper grades.
Through donations, HPZ fulfils the needs and wishes of those they support, including:
• Making purchases and experiences possible that people with special needs cannot afford with their own financial means;
• Investments in facilities and real estate in order to offer people with disabilities a modern infrastructure for schools, therapy, workshops and housing;
• Supporting individual people with special needs to receive specific care.
With the majority of Scotland fans only in Vaduz for such a short period, we were unable to visit the charity itself, and the donation was made at Restaurant Altenbach in the centre of Vaduz on matchday. Such a good choice of location, led to a well-attended event.

We were joined at the restaurant by a representative from HPZ who has seen the charity from both sides as her daughter has been supported by them throughout her life. It was fascinating to hear about the incredible work HPZ does and to hear an insight into how they may spend the donation.
We’re also grateful to the British Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, James Squire, who was also present for the donation, where a cheque was handed over for £5000.
Also in attendance were many locals, including a member of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce, who was so impressed with the Scotland fans generosity, that they donated a further £1000 to HPZ.
