Our 104th Consecutive donation was made on matchday 18th November 2024 with £5,000 being donated to the Helenow centre in Warsaw.

The compound of “Helenow” is situated in 16 acres of the Masovian Landscape Park, where they specialize in supporting children and adolescents with a wide spectrum of developmental disorders, including: physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, intellectual disability of various degrees, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, genetic syndromes, sensory integration disfunctions, psychomotor hyperactivity, speech-language disorders and multiple disabilities.

The infrastructure has been adapted to meet the needs of the children, where over 180 pupils at ‘Helenow’ are provided with rehabilitation, education at all levels and support in the form of full-day or round-the-clock care, as well as tasty homemade meals.

All the activities in the field of rehabilitation, education and care are designed to develop whole or relative independence for the children, so that they will be able to constitute an active part of the open society.

We linked up with the Warsaw St Andrews foundation, who assisted us in identifying Helenow as a worthy recipient of your 104th consecutive donation.

Several Scotland fans braved the extremely cold weather and visited the centre where we were met with several children on horses, which are used to offer hippotherapy sessions for children.

Members of staff explained the work carried out at the centre on behalf of the children, as well as the centre’s history dating back to before world war 1, when it was used as an orphanage

Some of the children and staff treated all the Scotland fans present to a lovely 3 course lunch, and gifted everyone a box of homemade gingerbread, which they bake themselves and sell to help raise funds.
