France (SWNT) – June (Donation 74)

We are pleased to confirm that the recipient of the 74th consecutive donation, marking the historic occasion of the Scottish National Women’s Team’s first appearance at a World Cup, will be to the “Main Dans La Main” (Hand In Hand) organisation in Paris. It will be made around the time of the final group game v Argentina.

We donated to this charity the last time we were in Paris, so let’s hope that’s an omen for the result, although perhaps ultimately not for our chances of qualification from the group. Here are few words (poorly translated by me and Google) from their website:

Every day, Hand In Hand volunteers take turns with children to entertain them: they play with them, read stories, have them draw, paint, listen to them, cradle babies, talk to newborns, share a story, spend time with teens…

Their reassuring and soothing presence allows children to escape from the world of the hospital and reach the dream world where they flourish. Whatever their pathology, benign or serious, whatever their age, the child needs to communicate, to escape, to play, to dream.

The Hand In Hand Association, created in 1987 and recognized by public utility in 1999, has a mission to improve the quality of life in the hospital – from birth to twenty years of age.

The 600 Hand in Hand volunteers bring availability of presence and listening, every day, including weekends and holidays, in 40 pediatric departments of 9 hospitals in the Paris area. They sit in administrative bodies of hospitals to facilitate the expression of patients and promote dialogue and exchange with hospital professionals.
These user representatives are appointed from among the people proposed by the accredited associations who represent at regional or departmental level the interests of patients, families, elderly people and people with disabilities.

Hand in Hand is an apolitical and non-denominational association.

We will confirm the date and time of the donation as soon as we can, as we’d like to be able to welcome as many of our supporters as possible along to the presentation.
