Countdown to the 50th Consecutive Donation: No. 1 – Lithuania 02/04/2003

The inaugural sunshine appeal donation was made in Lithuania in 2003. The Sunshine Appeal made contact with Lithuania Link, a UK based Lithuanian charity who pointed us in the direction of a town called Zagare, a small town in the north of Lithuania. A donation of £1000 helped Lithuania Link to treat children of the small town to excursions and trips that they would have otherwise been unable to afford to do.

There was also an amazing collection of backpacks, stationary, toiletries, sweets, TA clothing, footballs and cuddly toys that were all donated to the Sunshine Appeal from fans and their employers. These were distributed to the children of Zagare and certainly put a little sunshine in their life.

The appeal also bought 50 match tickets for mentally handicapped kids, adults and their supervisors which would have been an amazing experience for them, as Lithuania won the match!   Full story here…

Kelburn ‘Tartan Army’ To Be Available In Bottles

Kelburn’s Director, Derek Moore has for many years been proud to be part of the Tartan Army. He is a well known foot soldier who has been following Scotland home and away since the World Cup in West Germany 1974.

In 2007 Derek was asked to produce a beer for the Tartan Army and he did so with a light zesty 4.3% ale of the same name.
Until now, Tartan Army has only been available in casks when Scotland plays competitive matches.

The Tartan Army beer has always been very popular.  Recently Aldi has asked us to provide Tartan Army in bottles as a one-off for their summer festival.  Kelburn wanted to do a bit more and have pledged to donate 10p to the Sunshine Appeal for every bottle of Tartan Army sold.

Aldi will be stocking Tartan Army Bottles during their summer beer festival which starts on 29th May.

The Iron Horse supports the Sunshine Appeal

The Iron Horse Bar (Nile Street, Glasgow and the home of WESTA) today handed over £310 to the Sunshine Appeal.

The money was the product of the sale of “Scotland Invented” T-shirts and personal donations.

The Sunshine Appeal thanks the management, staff and customers who all contributed to this magnificent sum.

The Iron Horse welcomes the Tartan Army at all times but especially pre-match.

Kirkcaldy TA raise funds for the Sunshine Appeal

The Kirkcaldy Tartan Army Hogmanay bash raised £200 for their two nominated charities. Various activities were used for fund-raising including throwing coins at a bottle, raffle tickets and extra money from ticket sales. One of the raffle prizes was a new Scotland top (donated by KTA) that was one by a guest who doesn’t even like football.
He put the shirt back in and chose a bottle of whisky instead – even though he drinks vodka.
The two benefiting charities who will be receiving £100 each are Rosslyn School in Kirkcaldy and the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal.
The KTA committee thanks all who came along and enjoyed a great night.

The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal thanks KTA and everyone who helped make the night such a success
