Radical Road Fundraiser

A few Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal supporters are holding a Rock night in Edinburgh on Thursday 5 March.  It’s being held at the Radical Road, Willowbrae Road, Edinburgh and entry is free. There will be a collection for TASA and other fund raising on the night. Several of the Edinburgh Tartan Army members are involved in putting this event together and it’s great to support this fantastic cause. You may have heard the features on Radio Forth or read about the event in the Evening News. It promises to be a brilliant night.

Bands confirmed so far are: Babylon Dub Punks, Media Whores, The Fast Girls and Viking Reiver (featuring one of ETA’s finest pipers). Other bands expected to be performing are: Carbona Not Glue, The Phlegm and The Mattatunes.

The first band will be on at 7.30pm so get your kilt on and get along.

Scot’s Tartan Trek

By Paul Smith

Sponsored walk and then some!!

Ladies and gents, we draw your attention to one of our friends, Scot Tfc Rowland aka “Tartan Trek”, who’s undertaking a walk from his home in Ipswich to arrive at Hampden, in time for the start of the Gibraltar game – yip that’s 390 MILES …….. being walked over 11 days!

We’ll post updates on his progress, both during the walk and his fund raising efforts – Scott’s aim is to try and raise enough funds so that each of the charities, including ourselves and Tartan Army Childrens’ Charity (TACC) will be better off to the tune of (hopefully) £1000!

Please take a look at the website, which includes how to donate –http://tartantrek.webs.com/

Good luck Scott – Everywhere We Go!

Perthshire Kilted Golf Day Success

By Hannibal Smith

The First Perthshire Kilted Golf day took place at Murrayshall Golf Club on a lovely October day with six teams entering the Texas Scramble. There was some interesting garments being worn from Kilts to tartan trousers/pyjama bottoms.

After a bacon roll and a coffee/couple of pints we were good to go. There were various challenges around the course with a couple of nearest the pin and longest drive competitions as well as the usual challenges which I seem to encounter like water, trees and lack of ability.  Luckily the Texas Scramble format was a good leveler and by the time we were back in the clubhouse tucking into our roast platter washed down with a few more pints, all the teams had gone round the course in under par scores and there was only 4 shots separating the teams. The winning team, ‘Who needs fitz anyway?’, were made up of Peter Simpson, Craig Russell, Chris Hamilton and Bob Grimmond who went round in 8 under par and they generously donated their prize of a Fourball round at Murrayshall into the evenings auction.

We then headed down the road into Scone for the evening’s entertainment at the Wheel Inn, where the non golfers joined us, as did Ted Christopher and we had a great evening singing, dancing and drinking. We managed to have a raffle and an auction before we all had too much to drink, where there were plenty of prizes, such as signed football tops, signed captains armbands, as well as the usual alcohol and chocolate.

Big thanks to Murrayshall Golf Course, The Wheel Inn, Ted Christopher and everyone who donated prizes for the raffle auction but most of all to my golf expert Duncan Paton who organised the golf part of the day.

The total raised for the day was £1012.
